2019/CW23 MXO | Tournament | Gif-Sur-Yvette

Several months ago, 14 of us were selected to represent Switzerland at the Gif-Sur-Yvette tournament hosted by Touch France. We all knew each other from the previous HP trainings but this was the first time many of us played on the same side of the pitch!   

The tournament started with pool matches against SMH, Galaxy London and Touch Belettes. We lost our first two matches against strong opponents but with minimal point difference. Learning from our losses, we improved both our attack and defense and we ended our morning strong, with a 5-0 win.   

After all the pool games, we were placed to compete for the plate, the 9-16th place. It started with a match against Toulouse on the main pitch... The first ten minutes we were playing head-to-head and although we lost, many of the spectators later told us it was a great and exciting game to watch! With a clean win over the Strasbourg Lions, we finally walked on to the pitch for our revenge match against SMH. Both teams tired from a long day of hard fought Touch, it came down to who was fitter and had more hunger to win...  

Touch Switzerland’s first MXO Team came back from the Gif-Sur-Yvette tournament placing 13 out of 24 great European teams (in other words, placing first in the bottom half)! Overall, it was a wonderful tournament and an important first step to developing the future Swiss Mixed Open team.
